अमेरिका में भारतीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय छात्रों की संख्या में 50% भारी गिराव
अमेरिका में higher education के लिए जाने वाले भारतीय छात्रों की संख्या में इस साल record गिरावट दर्ज की गई है, रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक 2025 में पिछले वर्ष की तुलना में Indian International Students की enrollment में करीब 50% की कमी आई है, जो education sector और दोनों देशों के academic relations के लिए चिंता का विषय बन गया है। Experts का मानना है कि इस गिरावट की वजह multiple factors हैं जिनमें बढ़ती visa rejections, H-1B वर्क परमिट को लेकर uncertainty, high tuition fees, US immigration policies में सख्ती और Canada, UK तथा Australia जैसे देशों की ओर students का migration शामिल है। America traditionally भारतीय छात्रों के लिए higher education का सबसे लोकप्रिय destination रहा है, खासकर STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) courses के लिए, लेकिन अब changing policies और rising costs ने students को alternative countries explore करने पर मजबूर कर दिया है।
Education consultancies का कहना है कि 2024-25 academic year में अमेरिका जाने के लिए आवेदन करने वाले Indian students की संख्या भले ही अधिक थी लेकिन visa approvals में massive decline देखा गया, जिससे कई aspirants को fallback options जैसे कि Canada, Germany, Ireland और Australia चुनने पड़े। वहीं दूसरी तरफ American universities भी इस crisis को लेकर चिंतित हैं क्योंकि Indian students not only contribute significantly to campus diversity but also bring billions of dollars in revenue every year। US Department of Education की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार Indian students ने पिछले वर्ष alone लगभग $12 billion US economy में contribute किया था, लेकिन अब इस 50% decline से universities की finances और research programs पर सीधा असर पड़ने वाला है।
Analysts का मानना है कि geopolitical equations भी इस decline के पीछे बड़ी वजह हैं। India-US relations में strategic partnership के बावजूद, student mobility को लेकर ground level पर काफी challenges हैं। Students का कहना है कि visa interview process ज्यादा strict हो गया है और कई deserving candidates को भी reject किया गया। इसके अलावा rising cost of living, housing crisis और job market की uncertainty ने भी students को discourage किया है। Canada और Australia ने post-study work opportunities और simplified visa policies देकर बड़ी संख्या में Indian students को attract किया है, जबकि Germany और European countries free या low-cost education system के चलते नए hotspots बनते जा रहे हैं।
Indian parents भी अब अपने बच्चों को अमेरिका भेजने से पहले कई बार सोचने लगे हैं क्योंकि return on investment उतना promising नहीं दिख रहा। अमेरिका में पढ़ाई के बाद job opportunities सीमित होती जा रही हैं और H-1B lottery system पर पूरी तरह dependent रहने के कारण career growth uncertain हो रही है। दूसरी ओर UK और Australia comparatively job opportunities और PR (Permanent Residency) के रास्ते आसान कर रहे हैं, जिससे Indian youth को वहां बेहतर future दिखाई दे रहा है।
Indian government ने भी हाल ही में इस issue पर चिंता जताई है और US authorities से student visas और work permits को लेकर बातचीत की है। Experts का मानना है कि अगर आने वाले सालों में policies में बदलाव नहीं होता तो यह decline और भी बढ़ सकता है और US की universities अपनी global dominance खो सकती हैं। America को अब यह सोचना होगा कि वह कैसे international talent को attract करे क्योंकि Indian students global talent pool का बड़ा हिस्सा हैं।
Social media पर भी यह खबर trend कर रही है, कई students अपने rejection experiences शेयर कर रहे हैं और warning दे रहे हैं कि बिना backup options के सिर्फ US पर depend न रहें। Education industry के veterans का कहना है कि यह decline एक wake-up call है और universities को scholarships, support system और immigration support को बेहतर बनाना होगा।
कुल मिलाकर 50% की यह गिरावट सिर्फ numbers में कमी नहीं है बल्कि यह signal है कि global education market तेजी से बदल रहा है और students अब diversified opportunities तलाश रहे हैं। America को यदि अपना आकर्षण बनाए रखना है तो उसे policies में बदलाव कर student-friendly approach अपनानी होगी वरना आने वाले वर्षों में Indian students की प्राथमिकता सूची में उसका स्थान और नीचे चला जाएगा।
